My research, teaching, and scholarship focus on the analysis and interpretation of Indigenous art through Indigenous perspectives. I advocate for culturally specific approaches to arts research, recognizing that the cultural background, artists' knowledge, community histories, relationships to place, and lived experiences are essential to understanding the complexities within an artwork. As a non-Indigenous scholar, I am committed to supporting the visibility of Indigenous artists—particularly those from the Circumpolar North—while fostering critical engagement with contemporary Indigenous art within global contemporary art discourse.
